Round 18 Vs Wombats 13th August 2011
WOMBATS TOO GOOD
The Avondale Wombats were just too good for the valiant Mallee Bulls last Saturday winning all 3 grades. It just goes to show that money can buy victories and possibly premierships as the wealthy Wombats have bought just too many good players for the other Illawarra clubs to compete against. I know all in Illawarra Rugby hope they don’t buy three premierships but alas they will be very hard to beat come final time.
It is a great test of one’s courage when you play against much larger men – and thats certainly the case against the giant wombats. The Uni lads were valiant in defeat knocking their larger opponents to the ground all afternoon but size did matter in the end. The 3rds grabbed a perhaps vital bonus point; the 2nds were overwhelmed in the last 10 minutes and the 1sts did not get the bounce of the ball as the wombats did on several occasions.
Lets keep fighting to the end – some vital matches in the next two weeks. All hands on deck.
